| | China's annual Auto Show alternates between Beijing and Shanghai, and 2010 is the turn of the country's capital city. The Interior Motives Conference is timed so that it occurs on the two days prior to the opening Press days of the show, which are 21-22 April 2010. Formerly known in English as Peking, Beijing is the capital of the People's Republic of China. It is one of the four municipalities under the jurisdiction of the central government in China and one of the six ancient cities in China. It is the second largest city in China, just behind Shanghai, with more than 17 million people in Beijing's area of jurisdiction. Beijing is recognised as the political, educational, and cultural center of the People's Republic of China. It is also an international exchange centre and more than 140 foreign embassies are located here. Beijing is renowned for its opulent palaces, temples and huge stone walls and gates. Its art treasures and universities have long made the city a centre of culture and art in China. |
